The project “Surviving on the Networks” has the goal of strengthening the civic culture in Brazil by offering information and strategies on how to get informed in a more qualified manner through the social networks. Afterall, to survive on the networks, it is necessary to learn how the platforms work, how to identify and not disseminate fake news, how to try to protect the virtual space from fake profiles, opinion clustering, and the destructive polarization.

In 2018, the book “Surviving on the Networks: a Citizen Guide” was released. With an accessible language, it can be used at home, in schools, or by professionals, with varied information about the functioning of the networks and how to surf them in a more balanced way. In addition, there is a Facebook page that shares articles and tips.

“Surviving on the Networks” is an initiative of the Plataforma Democrática, a project of the Fernando Henrique Cardoso Foundation, in partnership with the Edelstein Center, and with the collaboration of InternetLab and the Monitor do debate político no meio digital (GPoPAI/USP).
