Thiago Oliva

Head of research, Freedom of Expression

Ph.D. student in International Law at the University of São Paulo. Thiago holds a master degree in Human Rights (2015) from the same university, having been granted a scholarship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). He holds a Law degree from the same university (LL.B., 2011). Thiago was an exchange student at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to attend the preparatory course for the LL.M. in German law (2010/2011). He has been awarded the first place prize of the First National Competition of Academic Studies promoted by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Brazil (2012) and the first place prize of the Third National Competition of Academic Studies promoted by the Delegation of the European Union in Brazil (2013). Thiago is the author of the book “Sexual minorities and the limits of free speech” (2015).
